Cape Town, South Africa, 17 July 2015 – PUMA South Africa continues to expand their running footprint and establish themselves as an elite running brand as they welcome distance runner Yolande Maclean, track and field athletes Jeremiah Motsau and Ransto Mokopane, and twins Lebo and Lebogang Phalula to their stable of top performers.

For five consecutive years, Yolande Maclean was placed in the top 10 in the world’s largest and oldest ultra marathon, the Comrades Ultra Marathon. Maclean also secured a first place victory in this year’s Wally Hayward Marathon, finishing in an impressive two hours and 56 minutes, and hopes to compete in the full Iron Man next year.
Mokopane and Motsau have achieved outstanding results in track and field with Mokopane achieving a silver medal in the 1500 meter sprint at the SA Senior Championships, and Motsau claiming a gold medal in the 1500 meter sprint in the 2014 and a bronze in the 2015 SA Championships.
PUMA is also adding twins to the mix with two of South Africa’s top female athletes, Lebo and Lebogang Phalula, who have their sights set on qualifying for the 2016 Olympic games. The dynamic duo are about to commence their track and field training sessions with a few marathons slotted in, “just for fun”, explained Lebogang as she recited their busy schedule. “Every athlete wishes to be an ambassador for a big brand, and to be chosen to represent PUMA is such a privilege. I will wear the PUMA attire with pride at the Olympics and will hopefully reach new heights in my performance”.
Lebo Phalula takes great inspiration from the World’s Fastest Man, Usain Bolt. “I want to be one of the top athletes to run in the 2016 Olympics. I am excited that I will be representing in the same brand as Usain Bolt and hope to break a few records myself”. I’d like to thank PUMA for recognising us and wanting to help us take our performance to the next level,” she added.
Maclean and the Phalula twins will make their first appearance in PUMA performance wear in this weekends Totalsports Women’s Race taking place in Durban on Sunday.
